Colorado Springs Luxury Homes are hit by foreclosures
Colorado Springs Luxury Homes — Foreclosures (Part II)
Even in affluent neighborhoods, foreclosures are beginning to appear more frequently
Wow, if only homes could talk ………………….. I previewed a variety of homes this week in Colorado Springs, ranging from a cute home in the East part of the city that was listed at $155,000 to one that was listed at $725,000. My favorite home of the day was an a
mazing Italian Villa type home in Northwest Colorado Springs. It was located on a breathtaking wooded lot, .85 of an acre, in one of my favorite Northwest Neighborhoods, Oak Hills.

The property was originally built in 1987, but according to some of the information I found in previous listings, it went through extensive remodels in 2001.
The home was a little deceiving from the outside, looked nice but not
anything special. In fact, the outside paint color was a little odd to me, a pale yellow. Once the front doors opened, the first thing I saw was the circular hardwood stairway, great entryway. Other amenities at the home include 3 fireplaces, and many, many, many decks. One of my favorite things were the unique children’s room. First there was the “Ocean Room” with artistic painted murals on the walls, almost felt like I was walking into an aquarium. And the finishing touch was the life preserver on the ceiling.
Then I went to the basketball room, again a fantastic interior paint job, complete with a scoreboard, basketball hoop, and an extra loft area for the kids. (Sorry the pic is a little blurry, forgot my camera so I was taking pictures with my cell phone.)

The kitchen had amazing possibilities, lots of unique high end touches, great cabinets, gas stove, granite everywhere. Fantastic room for entertaining!

There were decks everywhere, and my favorite was the deck in the back which was built around some of the trees on the lot. It certainly didn’t feel like you were in the middle of Colorado Springs.

Comparable homes that are updated and in good shape in northwest Colorado Springs are listed for around $750,000; this one is listed under $600,000. And for 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, 3 fireplaces on .85 of an acre, with great views; it’s definitely a diamond ready to be polished. From my visual inspection, there doesn’t appear to be anything major wrong. To me, it just appears to need a little TLC.
Previewing this property continued to reminded me once again the perception that foreclosures are only in low-end homes is completely wrong. I only wish the walls could have talked, told me what happened to the previous owners. (I hope they recover quickly from loosing their home.) I’m sure this home had to be someone’s dream home; as it truly was amazing! Hopefully a new family will find this diamond!
In the $ 300,000 and higher foreclosure price range, there are 2 homes on the market in the Northwest part of Colorado Springs that are bank-owned properties; and 1 more in this same price range is listed as a short sale. (It will be interesting to see if the short sale properties turn into a bank owned property in the next couple of months.)
