One of the top reasons people want to relocate to Colorado Springs and love living in the Pikes Peak Region is because of the open spaces and mountains. It’s paradise for a nature lover!
Palmer Park is a heavily wooded park located in the Central and East side of Colorado Springs, only minutes from homes in Village Seven, Patty Jewett, Divine Redeemer, Old north End, Cragmoor, University Park
Facts about Palmer Park in Colorado Springs:
- It’s a large series of rocky bluffs conveniently located right in the middle of the city.
- It includes two baseball/softball fields, community playground, football/soccer field, horse stables, restrooms.
- It has over 25 miles of trails (hiking, jogging, equestrian) on 730.7 acres.
- It includes two dog parks, one fenced area where dogs are allowed off leash and Yucca Flats hiking trail where dogs are allowed off-leash if they are kept under control.
- It includes a large series of rocky bluffs conveniently located right in the middle
of the city. - It boasts a variety of minerals (including quartz, topaz, jasper, and tourmaline), rich vegetation (including a yucca preservation area), and considerable wildlife.
- One of the most popular hikes, is the Ute Crest Yucca Area hike. It takes you on an easy 2.3 mile loop along the edge of the bluffs with an outstanding view of Pikes Peak and downtown Colorado Springs.
- For the more adventurous, there is also the Mesa and Templeton Trails that are 4.7 miles in length. It is a nice combination of the vegetation in our arid climate.
- The entire top of the bluff is covered with yucca that tend to bloom in early July.
- The Edna Mae Bennet Nature Trail is a self-guided excursion, and there are numerous other trails.
- It’s considered a Colorado Springs Regional Park, which are typically over 100 acres in size and include a major natural area
