Nosh in Colorado Springs… small plates offer artistic fun
Try Nosh for some fun dining located next to The Fine Arts Center in The Plaza of the Rockies. If the weather is nice, sit outside on the patio, though you might have to hold on to the umbrella as it is usually very windy. The inside is quite colorful sitting under pieces of modern art surrounding a huge bar.
Nosh provides many small plates of gorgeous and interesting flavors. Expect to order several of them and part of the fun is sharing with your dining partner.
Most of these arrive tableside on long white plates with the word Nosh written in a pretty flourish by the chef in a oil that is totally edible. Some of the favorite dishes to try include crab cakes (3 crispy balls served on corn succotash), nori-wrap beef, portabella points (stuffed with brie and sun-dried tomatoes). The portions are small, so do expect to order more than one dish. Of course, I love dessert and I wasn’t disappointed here either. Try the lemongrass and ginger creme brulee. It’s an enticing sour and creamy texture or try the brownie bomb if you love good chocolate, you won’t be disappointed.
Happy hour is from 3pm-6pm where you can get 1/2 price drinks and select items from the menu. Its a happening place, so do expect lots of company during that time. Nothing compares to their wonderful home-made Sangria and at only $2.50/glass, its a bargain. Lunch is served daily and if you work downtown its a great place to get away for awhile. On Sundays, you can bring you’re WELL-behaved dogs to the patio and they can play while you enjoy some of the fare.
The chefs do try and use as much local produce and meat as possible (I think that’s why the food tastes so fresh); it also means the restaurant supports our local farmers and ranchers and that’s what helps to keep the prices more reasonable. You can have a nice meal with a few 1/2 glasses of superb wine for about $25. So, come for dinner, linger and indulge with your friends. What could be better than that?
